तुलसी इस संसार में, भांति भांति के लोग।

सबसे हस मिल बोलिए, नदी नाव संजोग॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says that there are different types of people living in this world. You meet everyone with a laugh and say that just as a boat crosses the river by meeting with the river, in the same way you also cross this great ocean.

 

आवत ही हरषै नहीं नैनन नहीं सनेह।

तुलसी तहां न जाइये कंचन बरसे मेह॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says, the place or the house in which people are not happy with your visit and there is neither love nor affection for you in the eyes of those people. We should never go there, even if there is rain of money.

 

तुलसी साथी विपत्ति के, विद्या विनय विवेक।

साहस सुकृति सुसत्यव्रत, राम भरोसे एक॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says, in adversity, that is, in difficult times, these things support man. Knowledge, humility, prudence, courage, good deeds, truth and the name of Rama (God).

 

काम क्रोध मद लोभ की, जौ लौं मन में खान।

तौ लौं पण्डित मूरखौं, तुलसी एक समान॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says, as long as there is a feeling of lust, anger, ego, and greed in the mind of a person. Till then there is no difference between a wise person and a foolish person, both are same.

 

दया धर्म का मूल है, पाप मूल अभिमान।

तुलसी दया न छांड़िए, जब लग घट में प्राण॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says that the root of religion is mercy and the feeling of ego is the root of sin. Therefore, as long as there is life in the body, mercy should never be abandoned.

 

तुलसी मीठे बचन ते, सुख उपजत चहुँ ओर।

बसीकरन इक मंत्र है, परिहरू बचन कठोर॥

 

Meaning: As Tulsidasji says, sweet words spread happiness everywhere. This is a mantra to subdue anyone, so a person should try to speak sweet by leaving harsh words.

 

तुलसी भरोसे राम के, निर्भय हो के सोए।

अनहोनी होनी नही, होनी हो सो होए॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says, having faith in Lord Rama, play the flute in peace. Nothing untoward will happen in this world and no one can stop it from happening. Therefore, keep doing your work by getting rid of the tension of all the apprehensions.

 

तुलसी पावस के समय, धरी कोकिलन मौन।

अब तो दादुर बोलिहं, हमें पूछिह कौन॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says, in the rainy season, the sound of frogs groaning becomes so much that the cuckoo’s sweet voice gets suppressed in their noise. That’s why the cuckoo assumes silence. That is, when the sly and fools dominate, then no one pays attention to the words of a sensible person, at such a time it is better for him to remain silent.

 

सहज सुहृद गुरस्वामि सिखजो न करइ सिर मानि।

सो पछिताइ अघाइ उर अवसि होइहित हानि॥

 

Meaning: The one who naturally does not obey the teachings of the master and the master who seeks interest, he is deeply remorseful from the heart and there is definitely a loss of his interest.

 

मुखियामुखु सो चाहिऐ, खान पान कहुँ एक।

पालइपोषइ सकल अंग, तुलसी सहित बिबेक॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says, the head should be like the mouth, which is the only one to eat and drink, but takes care of all the organs judiciously.

 

तुलसी नर का क्या बड़ा, समय बड़ा बलवान।

भीलां लूटी गोपियाँ, वही अर्जुन वही बाण॥

 

Meaning: Tulsidas ji says, time alone makes a person the best and weakest. When Arjuna’s time changed, the Bhils robbed the gopis in front of him whose great warriors were frightened by the chanting of Gandiv.
