Satoguna, Tamoguna and Rajoguna

Sattvaguna, Rajoguna and Tamoguna, the three gunas that have arisen from nature, bind this imperishable soul in the body. which type ? ,

Arjun! The immutable Sattva guna, which illuminates those three gunas, is ‘Nirmalattvat’ – being pure, binds the soul to the body with the attachment of happiness and knowledge. Sattva guna is also bondage. The only difference is that happiness is only in God and knowledge is the name of realization. Sattva virtuous is bound till God is not realised.

O Arjuna! The living form of raga is Rajoguna. You know him ‘Karmasangen’ – born out of desire and attachment. He binds the soul to the attachment of action and its fruits. He gives tendency in action.

Arjun! Knowing that you were born out of ignorance, the Tama guna which attracts all the incarnations. He binds this soul by means of vain efforts, laziness (that he will do tomorrow) and sleep. Sleep does not mean that the tamoguni sleeps more. It is not the case that the body sleeps. ‘Or Nisha sarvabhutanam tasya jagarti sanyami. ‘The world is night. A tamoguni person is busy night and day in the form of this world, remains unconscious towards the form of light. This is tamoguni sleep. He who is trapped in it, sleeps. Now let us explain the collective nature of bondage of the three gunas –

Arjun! The Sattva guna engages in happiness, the rajoguna engages in the stream of eternal bliss, the rajoguna engages it in action and the tamo guna envelops the knowledge in pleasure, that is, in vain efforts of the conscience. When the gunas are in the same place in the same heart, how do they get separated? Yogeshwar Shri Krishna explains on this –

O Arjuna! By suppressing Rajoguna and Tamoguna, Sattvaguna increases, similarly Rajoguna increases by suppressing Sattvaguna and Tamoguna, and similarly,Tamoguna increases by suppressing Rajoguna and Sattvaguna. How to know when and which quality is working?

During the period in which the Divine Light and the power of perception arise in this body and the inner being and all the senses, at that time it should be known that the Sattva component has attained a special growth. And –

O Arjuna! When there is a special increase in the mode of passion, greed, the effort to get involved in work, the beginning of actions, unrest, that is, restlessness of the mind, the desire for pleasures – all these arise. Now what happens in the growth of Tamagun? ,

Arjun! ‘Aprakashah’ – (Light is a sign of the Supreme Soul) on the increase of Tama guna, the nature of not moving towards the divine light, ‘karyam karma’ – the process to be done – is special in that attitude, the flow of vain efforts in the conscience and engrossed in the world Doing tendencies – all these arise. What is the benefit of knowing these properties? ,

When this soul attains death in the period of growth of Sattva guna, renounces the body, then the filthless divine realms of those who do good deeds are attained. And

On the increase of Rajoguna, the person who dies in the attachment of karma takes birth, and in the increase of Tamoguna, the dead person takes birth in foolish yoni, in which there is an expansion of yonis till insects and moths. Therefore, human beings should also have sattvik qualities. This bank of nature returns your acquired qualities to you safely even after death. Now see its result –

The fruit of sattvik action is said to be sattvik, pure, happiness, knowledge and dispassion. The fruit of rajas karma is sorrow and the result of tamas karma is ignorance. And –

From the quality of Sattva, knowledge arises (the name of Divine Realization is knowledge), Divine Realization flows. Of course, from the mode of passion, greed arises, and from the guna of tamas, pride, delusion, laziness (ignorance) arise. What speed do they generate? ,

Purusha situated in the mode of sattva, ‘Urdhwamoolam’ – flows towards that original Supreme Soul, goes to the pure worlds. Rajas purusha situated in rajoguna are middle-class human beings, who have neither ‘sattvikam’ – discretion – dispassion nor inferior insects – moths go into the yonis but are reborn and are tainted in tamas guna ‘tamas purusha’. Adhogatih’ means animals-birds, insects-moths etc. are attained by the inferior creatures. In this way, all the three qualities are the cause of the vagina in some form or the other. Those who transcend the qualities, they are freed from the bondage of birth and attain my form. On this it says-

At a time when the watcher soul does not see any other than the three gunas as the doer and realizes the supreme being that is beyond the three gunas as ‘veti’, at that time that person attains my form. It is not an intellectual belief that virtue is a virtue. While doing the means, a stage comes, where it is realized from that Supreme that there is no doer except the gunas, at that time the person becomes past the three gunas. This is not an assumed belief. On this it says further-

The man, being past the three gunas as the cause of the origin of these gross bodies, drinks the nectar of nectar, being specially freed from all kinds of sorrows like birth-death, old age and all kinds of miseries.
